Haflong, January 8, 2020 : Three days Exhibition-cum-handicraft Week is going on since yesterday, the 7th January 2020 at Cultural Institute Hall premises, Haflong organised by District Industry & Commerce Centre, Haflong, Dima Hasao, which will continue up to 10th January 2020.
On the occasion of inaugural programme yesterday, Ms. Melina Terangpi, General Manager of the DICC encouraged the SHGs to showcase their talents and produces and also expressed hope that they will produce more and more in near future. She also appeal to the general public to co operate with them and help the exhibition a success.
The programme was also attended byFunctional Manager, staffs of the DICC, members of various SHGs and general public.
The exhibition is very much attractive, as many SHGs set up stalls displaying various quality products by seral Self Help Groups (SHGs) from different parts of the district.
There are many local products like wood and bamboo crafts, eco-friendly one time plates, candles, incense stick (agarbatti), modern and traditional dresses, ear rings, mufflers, mekhela, handmade bags, local made coffee, pickles, etc..
Ms Terengpi lauded one local budding entrepreneur Devan Thapa of Mahadev Tilla, near Haflong who has been producing eco-friendly disposable paper plates, which he is one of the attractive item here.
She also mention SHGs of Boro Nianglo village that with the help of the DICC, they are producing honey, candle making, incense stick (agarbatti), etc. All these are also displayed here.
