Haflong, January 31, 2020 : The KCK under KCC Synod Assam is celebrating 40th Anniversary of its existence with four day long programme at Changpijang village near Mahur in Dima Hasao district of Assam.
In this connection, a memorial stone was erected near the Church, which was ceremonially unveiled by L.Doungel APS, Addl.SP, being the son of one of the founding leader of KCC Late Rev.M.Doungel in presence of Guest of Honour Miss Veijakim Changsan AFS, TO; KCC and KCK leaders, and huge gathering. Then, was dedicated to Almighty God by Dedication Minister Rev.H.Haolai, the Executive Secretary of KCC Synod Assam.
That was followed by ceremonial function at Changpijang Playground, which was graced by L.Doungel as Chief Guest while Miss Veijakim Changsan AFS, TO, attended as Guest of Honour. Besides, two professors from TTS Imphal Dr.H. Chongloi and The programme was also attended by both Moderator and Executive Secretary of KCC Synod Assam i.e. Rev. Th. Lunkim and Rev.H.Haolai , former Moderators Rev. T.S.Changsan and Rev.L.P.Lenthang and many other pastors, Church leaders, KCK leaders and delegates from all local Churches and general public.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest L.Doungel encouraged the youth to rise above the normal level by stitching in the teaching of Jesus Christ. The Guest of Honour Miss Veijakim also exhorted the youth to try hard to shine in life.
One of the founding member Upa S.P.Changsan, speaking on the occasion, reminded the gathering how the nomenclature of the organization was changed from ‘YCO’ to ‘KCK’ in the year 1980. According to him, the Kukis had been in many denomination Churches for many years, following other’s traditions. When Kuki Christian Church (KCC) was formed, the English word ‘Young Christian Organization (YCO)’ was translated in Kuki language as ‘Khangthah Christian Kiloikhom’ (KCK), which was changed to ‘Kuki Christian Khangthah’ (KCK) by some new leaders later.
A Souvenir was released by the Moderator Rev. Th. Lunkim and also spoke on the occasion.
The Choir party and Soloist presented Gospel songs, while traditional song was also presented by the youth of P.T.Leikeh Christian Church.
During the programme, the leader of Kuki Christian Khangthah (KCK) Pr. Martin Z.Hengna and office-bearers felicitated the Guests, and first leaders of the KCK with Kuki traditional shawls and Mufflers along with Mementos.
The annual conference will be held up to 2nd February, 2020 (Sunday) with day and night programme. Many competitions in music, song and dance, both in traditional as well as Gospels will be held along with worship services.
