50 returnees from outside North East quarantined in various facility centres

Haflong, May 18, 2020:  Since the government allowed movements of stranded persons outside North East from May 14, fifty people have reportedly entered Dima Hasao till date from train from New Delhi, New Jalpaiguri, Katihar, Chennai and Dibrugarh.

So, the district administration, as a measure to prevent the spread of corona virus in the district, has placed all the fifty returnees at various facility centres in Haflong, like  Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Jayashree Hotel and Siksha Bhawan in Haflong town.

Official sources said that 14 numbers of swap samples have been collected and sent to test for Covid-19 in the first lot and the rest in process to be sent in the next.

The district administration has also requisitioned four Covid Care Centres (CCC) at four blocks one each in Maibang, Mahur, Haflong and Harangjao. This step being taken to prevent the spread of COVID -19, the Block level monitoring teams constituted earlier have been directed to make the centers functional in co-ordination with the line departments.

Moreover, six numbers of lodges around the town have also been taken over by the district administration to be used as quarantine facility for persons coming from outside Assam or North east to Haflong.

The sample collection as per Assam Community Surveillance Plan(ACSP) the community-based surveillance at villages level for severe acute respiratory infections (SARI) and influenza like illness (ILI) and many other diseases including COVID still continues.

All the 31 (thirty one) samples which were sent have been found with COVID -19 negative result, stated the official sources.  Sixty three samples are reported to be collected till date and will be sent in phase manner, added the sources.
