74th Independence Day Celebration at Haflong

Haflong, August 15, 2020 : With rest of the India sub-continent the county’s 74th Independence Day was centrally celebrated today at the Assam Rifles’ Playground, Sarkari Bagan, Haflong in Dima Hasao district of Assam, amid COVID-19 pandemic.
The National flag was unfurled by the Chief Executive Member of N.C.Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Dima Hasao, Shri. Paul Barua, ACS and Superintendent of Police, Dima Hasao, Shri. Jayant Singh, IPS. Later, the CEM inspected the Guard of honour and delivered the speech.
Maintaining COVID-19 protocol, march passed was presented only by the Police personnel and Musical band of 5th Assam Police Battalion.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEM highlighted development works of the government and N.C.Hills Autonomous Council during the year. He announced the proposal to provide Vehicle, Driver and PSO to former CEMs and pension like benefit to all former MACs. The proposal will be placed in the next session of the N.C.Hills Autonomous Council, he added.
The students who excelled in their academic were also awarded on the day.
On the day, the CEM Gorlosa also flagged off Five Mortuary Vans and Three Ambulances at Lal Field, Haflong.
In the morning, Gorlosa paid tribute to Dimasa Freedom Fighter Veer Sambudhan Phonglo by garlanding his statue at Haflong town.
The Day was also celebrated at Maibang, Harangajao, Umrangso and Diyungbra.
At Harangajao, the Tri-colour was hoisted by Harangajao BDO in presence of the Vice Chairman of Harangajao Block.
