Assam Govt Has Taken Several Decisions To Boost The Standard Of Education

January 25, 2020 : Assam Education Department has taken several important decisions at the elementary, secondary and higher secondary level, in order to boost up the standard of education in the state.

Addressing a press conference at Janata Bhawan in Guwahati on Saturday, Assam Education Minister said that the state government has decided to release a budget of Rs 449 crores to School Managing Committees for 4 sets of uniform for students in Class I to Class VIII and 2 sets of uniform for those in Class IX and X according to the guidelines issued by SSA.

He also said that approximately 15,000 posts will be filled in next 6 months, out of which 9635 regular posts will be filled before 31st March, 2020.

8000 posts will be filled at the district level with the announcement of the result of the Teacher Eligibility Test for Secondary Education in February, 2020.

He informed that the government is considering provincialization of 4993 schools with 13362 teachers at elementary level, 626 schools with 4828 teachers at secondary level & 30 new colleges with 900 teachers posts at higher education level along with 168 posts in 134 already provincialized colleges.

Government has decided to recruit 665 posts of faculties at college level. The Principals of colleges will have the authority to fill the vacant posts in next 6 months, Sarma informed.

He added that the issues of job security, pay disparity & health for contractual teachers will also be taken.

Introduction of Science stream in colleges, setting up of 100 high schools in tea gardens and upgradation of high schools to higher secondary schools will be important measures to be taken within next 6 months.

Sarma said that the teacher communities are humbly requested to take prior appointments in order to visit Education Department officials.

Government will also undertake and resolve issues of illegal/irregular teachers in the Elementary Education Department.

Further, an amount of 962.93 crores will be released to SMDC for construction of Additional Classrooms in 10702 schools in 13564 units, partition wall in 7813 schools in 10472 units, boys toilets in 1379 schools and for electrification in 37560 schools.

For the Higher Education Department, various new colleges, universities, higher and technical schools/ colleges, Law and B.Ed colleges will be established within 6 months.

The minister also said that the problems of Computer teachers will also be addressed.
