COVID-19 case rises to 16806 in Assam with 735 New Cases on July 12

July 13, 2020 : As many as 735 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Assam on July 12, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the state to 16,806.
According to Assam Health Minister Dr.Himanta Biswa Sarma, Assam has registered 735 COVID-19 positive cases on the day, July 12. Of these 735 cases, 400 were detected from Guwahati.
The present tally on July 12 is recorded as Total case 16,806. Out of which, 10,894 patients have recovered, while 36 patients have died and three patients have migrated to outside the state. So, the total active cases stands at 5,873.
Informing the latest update of the day at 11:30 PM on July 12, Dr. Sarma tweet, “Alert ~ 735 new #COVID ve+ cases in Assam, 400 in Guwahati alone. Total cases 16806. Recovered 10894. Active cases 5873. Deaths 36.”

On the other hand, 468 more patients were discharged from various hospitals across the state on the day.

Meanwhile, there was a report of 4 (four) more COVID-19 positive patients died in the State the same day.
Nilakshi Singh (40) of Guwahati, Arjun Kumar Ajitsaria (63) of Nagaon and Subhawati Devi Maurya (55) of Guwahati admitted to the GMCH COVID ICU succumbed between 11:30 pm on July 11 (Saturday) and 2 am on July 12 (Sunday). Another patient Ashish Sahewal (36), who was admitted to the JMCH in Jorhat, also died on Sunday. The underlying causes of their deaths will be assessed by the death audit board as per information.

It may be noted that Assam Government has constituted a 4-member Death Audit Board for COVID-19 in accordance with ICMR guidelines. Dr. Sarma said that any death will be attributed officially to Covid-19 only after the Board has ascertained it.
