Indian Red Cross Society, Dima Hasao revived

Haflong, November 30, 2019 : The Dima Hasao district Red Cross had a general body meeting yesterday in an initiative to make the organization operational full flagged. The meeting was presided by the  President of Indian Red Cross Society ,Dima Hasao district branch Amitabh Rajkhowa.

In his speech he welcomed all members present and extended his gratitude to State representatives and members present for taking giant initiative for a noble cause to serve the humanity and to revive the Red Cross Society which was not operational since decade.

He further said that communities living in the district will be immensely benefited by the service of IRCS during and after adversity and in the area of health care delivery system and other services .

The meeting was also attended by  Diganta  Bujarbaruah Branch General Secretary IRCS Assam State  Branch and Dr Sarbeswar Bujarbaruah, Co-opted member IRCS and  eminent plasma scientists  and Ashinta Bhuyian ,Volunteer IRCS Assam .Speaking on the occasion Bujarbaruah   given insight  on the IRCS  its objectives apart from   various project  for the welfare of the people.

He further said that Dima Hasao district needed many such program including training on first aid, disaster management program and awareness program on preventive health ,nutrition ,mother and child care, wellness  and much more. Dr Sarbeswar Bujarbaruah, Co-opted member IRCS also spoke on the occasion highlighting on various  programs being  taken by the IRCS in remote place  and on the Red Cross Building.

During the meeting discussion were held on formation of sub committees like youth  Red Cross issues ,Blood bank ,Training programs on health care ,first aid  including the Red Cross Building located at Jatinga  and to make it operational for OPD ,Child care , Rehabilitation centre and other facilities for the people of Dima Hasao district  as earlier.

On the  day a  well-built interim office bearer  were selected unanimously viz vise president, Nilutpol Buragohain, Chairman, Pouramduing Jeme, vice-Chairman Shyamal Nandi treasure N Malakar and  Nirmal Singh as Secretary of the IRCS Dima Hasao district branch  while  a  fifteen managing committee members, and  initially dozens of new members were inducted in IRCS to run the organization effectively in the hills district to achieve its aims and objectives as required emphasizing formation of other committees to formed

About fifty old and new members from   security personnel, govt. and non govt. organization, educationist, social activist students, teachers and traders were present on the day of meeting
