Vehicles seized and fined during 14 days lockdown in Dima Hasao

Haflong, July 12, 2020 : At least 13 vehicles including two wheelers were seized at Haflong by the Police on the first day, July 07, of the two weeks lockdown in Dima Hasao district of Assam and collected a total fine of Rs. 12,500 on a single day.

This came into force after an order was issued by the Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman of DDMA, Dima Hasao, Paul Barua, clearly stating the guidelines of activities exempted and prohibited during the lockdown till 19th July next.

According to the order all public and private vehicles are prohibited from plying on road unless approved by the district administration on emergencies.

In this connection, the district administration also released a list with names of grocery shops at Haflong town that will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the two weeks lockdown. The authority is also preparing inclusion of more number of shops from suburban locality for convenience of the people and to avoid gathering at the market. Same is also being worked out for the various other places within the district. ( ‘Haflong News’ July 07, 2020)
